Title: :: Xerolabs: The Future Is Here! ::
Description: Adoption center

Zephyr - November 10, 2006 12:40 AM (GMT)
You walk into a white building. The place smelles distinctly of febreze and antibacterial soap. The building is unattractive on the outside, with a faded banner draped high up on the wall. The automatic doors click cheaply as you enter. Echoes of the chatter of many creatures bounce off of the walls. You walk down a narrow hallway that desperately needs a paint job and into the foyer.
Lining every speck of the wall you can see are cages with Pokemon sitting patiently inside. The cages are padded, but sparingly so-- each cage, cramped in its 1x2 meter area, houses a pillow, a water bottle, a bowl of Pokechow, and a Pokemon.
Only about an eighth of the cages are filled, however, and you expect that if more Pokemon were to come than they'd be more crammed. A man in a white lab coat finally notices you. He starts, causing his glasses to slide down his nose. After regaining his posture, he turns and looks at you pompously.
"Welcome, valued customer. Would you like a tour of the facilities?"

Xerolabs is both a Pokemon adoption center and a laboratory. Each of the Pokemon in the lab has been treated with a special chemical that allows them to interbreed with any of the other Pokemon at Xerolabs! That means that should you find a mate for your Pokemon and agree to breed them, you can come up with a brand-new, unique Pokemon that's all your own! And, to make things better, you can breed your two-Pokemon combo to another, and another! Pokemon are found to be hughly unstable after the fourth generation, however, and therefore it is not advised that you breed them any farther.

As the guide continues to lead you, you pass a window with the faded letters "SHOP" hanging over it. The window is open now, and an employee, this time female, sits there. She's chewing bubble gum and looks extremely bored. On the counter in front of her and hanging on the wall behind her are several items. She gestures to them wordlessly.

A door to your right reads Battle Arena. You can go in if you like.

The guide invites you into a room. It is empty, save for one paper sprawled on a stand in the room's centre. You walk up to it and read it.

Rules:
-When first joining the Xerolabs community, you start out with 100 x, the currency.
-If your Pokemon evolves by level, it must achieve that level by battling first. Then, you may pay 10 X to evolve it if you so wish.

If your Pokemon evolves by friendship, you must level it up at least five levels from its previous form (for example, if you have a Pichu at level 1, you must raise it to level 6 to evolve it. If you have a Chansey at level 10, you must raise it to level 15 to evolve it.) Then, you may pay 20 X to evolve it.

Stone-based and other item-based or trade-based evolutions can be done at any level for a fee of 25 X. If your Pokemon needs friendship to evolve as well as an item, then it works in the same way as a friendship evolution.

Location-based evolutions work in the same way as friendship and cost 20 X.
-Your first adoption is free, but any additional adoptions will start at 25x and the price will rise by 25x for each new adoption.
-If you wish to breed two of your Pokemon together, it's 40x. If you wish to breed your Pokemon to somebody else's, it's 25x from each of you.
-Don't beg for any Pokemon. The shelter will restock in due time.
-Don't lie about your money. It's virtual currency. That's just sad.
-Pokemon can't be bred past the fourth generation. It's too painful for the spriter.
-How do you get money? You can earn money by either fighting in the arena or winning a race, and also by playing some games and giveaways that might come along.
-How else do you get money? In the same room as this list of rules there is a small sheet of paper for you to sign up for various jobs that help the Labs. This is the Job agency, where you can apply for a job to earn lots of X.
-Abide by the rules. (That's a dumb rule, isn't it?)
-If you have any questions, feel free to PM me about it and I'll do my best to answer.

As you look out the window, you see some Pokemon running past.

Your search loops back to the kennel room, and the Pokemon again stare at you from behind their bars. How you want to take one home! You examine the list of Pokemon currently here.

I'd like to adopt a Taillow, please. Will there be more pokemon added, and if so, when?

Shadow - November 10, 2006 12:57 AM (GMT)
Fwee, cool idea. =D Can I adopt the Bulbasaur?

Zephyr - November 10, 2006 01:33 AM (GMT)
Of course. I'll fix those two up right now. :3
More coming soon. Oh, and it'd be convenient if you put these in your sig.

I'll keep a bank list. You both have $100x at the moment. And I have $100x too.

IceMasterX - November 10, 2006 04:28 AM (GMT)
I'll join. I don't want a pokemon just yet though. . .this sounds fun!

Zephyr - November 10, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
Xerolabs has added to its repetoire of Pokemon! Gastly and Mareep are now up for adoption!

Also, here are Noodles' and Shadow's adoptions.

Kaiser - November 10, 2006 10:10 PM (GMT)
I can I join? Is it possible for me to adopt a Dratini? If not, can I adopted a Horsea?

Noodles - November 11, 2006 12:00 AM (GMT)
*Puts in sig* Thanks. Maybe we could have battles with them, to make money if we're not such good spriters.

Er, no. You can only adopt those that are up on the adoption list.

*added Pointy and Kaiser*

Hm, may I? The battle topic will be up soon. :3

Kaiser - November 11, 2006 01:58 AM (GMT)

Can we reserve pokemon for when they come in?

No. You get what Pokemon are there when they are. No reserving- it's just not fair.

There are Pokemon ready for shipment into Xerolabs, but they have agreed to only put them up for adoption if either the Arena is used of somebody adopts one of the Pokemon currently there.

Axphear - November 18, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
This is a really awsome idea. I may as well adopt a gastly & if you like I'd like to help sprite...

IceMasterX - November 19, 2006 11:20 PM (GMT)
Pokemon has been adopted *sits here and waits for new pokemon shipment.

Zephyr - November 20, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
Update- Xerolabs has a new shipment of Pokemon in. Buoysel and Nidoran (m) are now available.

Note: There will be minimal fourth-gen Pokemon here in consideration to those who don't want the game to be spoiled. It will have all the Pokemon released before the release of Diamond and Pearl, but not after. This does not include evolutions and preevolutions of those Pokemon. Evolutions of existing Pokemon (That are fourthgen) will not be obtainable until D/P comes out in the US. An exception is Leafeon and Glaceon, because I'm sure you all want them.

Here is your engraved Gastly, Axphear!

The shop will open once two people decide to breed their Pokemon or an Arena battle has been fought.

IceMasterX - November 20, 2006 11:09 PM (GMT)
Um. . .Can I have the Nidoran (m)?

Agent Myst - November 26, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
Wish I had seen this sooner...

If Xerolabs restocks after FWF gets the Nidoran, then forget I posted =P, but if you leave it with the two, then may I adopt the Slugma?

Zephyr - November 26, 2006 02:30 PM (GMT)
Normally, I'd restock immediately, but I'll make a little exception because I'm lazy because the shop's up. Perhaps I'll restock later today. :3

Plus, I've made some minor changes. Now, when you adopt a second Pokemon, the price will be $25 and will increase by $25 for every new adoption.

Also, the Store is now open! They've released the first item available to the Xerolabs public, paintbrushes! More information at the first post.

Okay! (That means I'm forced to restock, doesn't it? o_o) I'll get your engraved version in a sec. ^^

Xerolabs has found a few more Pokemon.

Eievui - December 10, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
Um,eheheh, I'm new and I don't know how.

Zephyr - December 10, 2006 08:50 PM (GMT)
It's okay, since I'm an admin I can edit it onto your signature. ^^ But in the future, go to your User CP by clicking the "My controls" link below the forum's banner.

Eievui - December 10, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
Thank you so much!! Now I know how to do a whole lot more. :)

Agent Myst - December 10, 2006 10:57 PM (GMT)
;_;

You forgot to give me a bank...

IceMasterX - December 11, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
I'll adopt Teddiursa for 25$. Thank you! Um. . .Am I allowed to sell my pokemon? I'm just asking. . .

Zephyr - December 11, 2006 01:44 AM (GMT)
Aww, you don't want your Nidoran? You'll be able to earn your money back some other way, trust me.

Anyhow, I've deducted $25 from your account. Your Teddiursa is in the process of being engraved finished.

People, try breeding your Pokemon together! Once the Xerolabs experiment (the idea that any two Pokemon can interbreed) is proven true, Xerolabs is sure to add a new feature. If you want to breed your Pokemon with someone else's, you'll need their confirmation and a post back here.

Wolf Link - December 13, 2006 08:35 PM (GMT)
I'll just take the next one in, please. I'm excited about it
Please check back from yetserday (or was it the day before that?)
I don't mind which one I get.

Agent Myst and I have agreed to breed our Pokemon (Buoysel and Slugma, just so you know ^^ ) together, so yeah. :D

I'd like a confirmation from Agent Myst as well before I deduct from both of your bank accounts. Thanks. ^^

Wolf Link - December 14, 2006 08:35 AM (GMT)
If you win 101 battles, does your pokemon become level 101? Because level 101 don't exist.

IceMasterX - December 14, 2006 01:47 PM (GMT)
Your pokemon could be higher! If Zephyr lets them go over level 100. . .
I'm probably gonna keep my Nidoran, but is there a limit to how many pokemon we can have?

Probably not. But doesn't it cost money for the second adoption?
Anyway, are the phanpy and cubone still open to adopt?

...
Still no reply. Anyway, I'll see you all tomorrow ^_^

Zephyr - December 14, 2006 08:39 PM (GMT)
Yep, Pokemon can level up past level 100. Not sure why you'd want them to do that, though, seeing as most movesets are complete by level 60. I suppose I could have it so your Pokemon gains HP as it levels up...

Of course the Phanpy and cubone are up for adoption! Would you like one?

There's no limit to the amount of Pokemon you can have. Don't worry. ^^
