Title: Hurricane Gustav
Cyndaquil201 - September 1, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
is heading directly towards Louisiana.
I you don't know what that means, go look it up.
And ignore the fact that I haven't posted here for three months.
Yes, they're saying that the levees are strengthened enough to withstand it, but Katrina didn't hit New Orleans directly and look what it did (edit: just did a check and it hit more directly that I thought it did. Hurricane Gustav will probably do something very similiar to what it did, actually). We're not even done cleaning up the mess and it's been, what, two-three years now? I can't remember and I'm too upset to check (edit: exactly three years). People who just got their homes back could lose then again.
This is somewhat upsetting for me, as you can tell. My mother has been going down there for a while to help, and I don't want her to go down there and rebuild the homes she already rebuilt once. And then there are the kids who my class wrote letters to a while back, one of which said that she didn't lose a lot of relatives in the storm.
This is horrible.

Woah. o.O I really hope it isn't too destructive. Try not to worry about it too much; if people are trying to make defences against the hurricane and are prepared to help repair any damage it causes, that's probably the best that they can do.

I live in Massachusetts. There is no way it can get to me.
Well, at the time of writing, it's hit Louisiana.
What I hate about this is that I have no idea what's going on down there. It's hit Louisiana– did the levees hold? Did the streets flood? Are they flooding? I don't think I'll know until tomorrow or at least late today. I'm overreacting, but still!
The
projected path says that it won't hit Texas until it's calmed down some. Which is a good thing, since I have relatives down there.

Oh. Well at least It won't hit where I am... I'm further inland.

YESThe levees worked!
Yes!
Turns out the hurricane was a lot weaker than they thought. So, although it was a somewhat direct hit, it didn't do as much damage as they thought it would. So some trees fell over and it's raining a lot and it did a lot of damage too some oil thing that could actually turn out to be a big problem. So it sort of did do a lot of damage. Now I don't know if I should be worried or glad (I'm going to be glad anyways).
It could still do a lot of damage, but I think the worst is over.
Looking back at my previous posts, it turns out I was overreacting. A lot. Wow.

I'm glad Gustav wasn't as bad as people feared. ^^ I'm really scared of tornadoes, and a hurricane to me is basically a tornado with water... (I know it's really not, but you get my point xD;;)
I tend to overreact a lot, too... it's okay, at that point you didn't know how bad it was going to be, so you weren't overreacting. =)
