Title: What Wii Virtual Console games do you own

Aqua - May 19, 2008 11:37 AM (GMT)
Several great games have been re-released to be emulated on the Wii's hard drive. Which of these games do you have, if any?

I've got Sin & Punishment, one of my favorite N64 games from back in the day. It was released by Treasure Inc, king of the Shoot'em ups and bizarre platformers (Mischief Makers XD), this came out on the N64 back in 2000. It was a very different Rail Shooter, and very difficult (Like all their games.) Treasure's 3rd greatest game (In my opinion of course, the other 2 being Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga). Can be bought for 1200 wii points. Unfortunately wasn't released in America before, but now we can experience this awesome game. The text in the main menu has been translated, but all the ingame subtitles are still in Japanese, because for some odd reason, the game's voice acting was in English o.o

Kirby 64, another of my favorites. Probably the best Kirby game in my opinion.

Pokemon Snap, I have good memories with this game XD

Chrono Trigger, my favorite RPG. Have many great memories with this game, and playing it makes me feel nostalgic (Which makes me seem old o.o It came out for the SNES in 1993)

Yoshi's Story, my second favorite Mario game XD

The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past, my favorite Zelda game, by far. I like Twilight Princess, and I liked Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask, but this is hands down, my all-time favorite. I just want Nintendo to release the actual Ura-Zelda that was released on the N64 in Japan.

Omg I LOVE this game! They're remaking it for Wii!? I'm tempted to buy a Wii just for that. <3

Another amazing game that, remade, would definitely tempt me to buy a Wii. <3

I hate to sound like an idiot, but what is this Virtual Console that you speak of? Is it something that you can get on the Wii Shop Channel or something?

Yes- the Wii Virtual Console is pretty much a collection of games for the older systems (N64, Sega Genesis, the like) that you can purchase off the Wii Shop channel.

I'd have to say my personal favorite is Sonic 3 for the Genesis... because I was absolutely addicted to that game a long, long time ago.

Purchase with actual money or with some kind of gaming system thing? Someone mentioned something about Wii points or something... *is clueless to the Wii*

Well... you buy Wii Points with (real) money, then spend the Wii points on virtual console games/ wii apps.

I need more Wii points. xD; I spent 'em all, and I now own Pokemon Snap and Paper Mario. :P The N64 was a little after my time, so I'm delighted to have the chance to witness some great games that I missed the first time around. I'm eagerly awaiting the day they release Earthbound for the VC, as I have long wanted to find out what that was all about.

Wiiware's out now, too... I'm fairly sure that I'll get FFCC: My Life as a King someday, but presently I don't have 1700 Wii points to spend. ^^; But hey, a game for $17... that's pretty good, all told. :D I'll have to talk my parents around to it.

Hmm. How much do most of these games cost in actual money? *is interested* Though I probably won't get a Wii any time soon. xD

Avielus - May 20, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)
Some are 5$, the better ones (and the N64 ones) are 10$. Kinda steep for games that came out 10-15 years ago, but whatever floats your boat, Nintendo...

Aqua - May 21, 2008 01:00 PM (GMT)
Nah, you'd be surprised at what games go for nowadays. Most of the older, harder to find games cost alot more, like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for PS2, XBox, or Dreamcast, which usually goes for about $80 used.

Some games on the virtual console are impossible to find for their respective system though, and I personally find some of their prices reasonable, like Sin & Punishment. It never came out in America before, and was made in such limited print, and Nintendo and Treasure (The company that made it) know that some people who want to play it will be willing to shell out a hefty amount of money for it, even if it's just to download it and emulate on the Wii.

Heck, I even have a friend who spent $120 on Panzer Dragoon Sagas for the Sega Saturn.

Avielus - May 22, 2008 03:23 AM (GMT)
True... I suppose there is the rarity factor that I didn't consider. But still, seeing as they're downloads and not physical copies... meh.

120$? ...wow. He must have really liked it... seeing as most of my sega games no longer work. Heck, I think I lost the thing last year...

IceMasterX - May 22, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)
Lesse... I own a kirby one along with Mario Kart 64... ^^ I haven't played the kirby one much. =/ I like the mario kart better. =P

I think it would be cool if you could earn wii points by playing your wii... xD

Btw, I'm not sure whether the kirby one is nintendo 64... I'll look later. =P

Aqua - May 29, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
I think there's only 2 Kirby games that've been released on Wii VC. Kirby's Adventure, the very first one on the NES, and of course, the N64 one.

Shadow - May 29, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
*gasp* Kirby's Adventure? The very first Kirby game? If I ever get a Wii, I'd have to check that out. I miss Kirby so much; I should really play some of the newer Kirby games. Or the older ones, too.

So how do you earn these Wii points?

Avielus - May 30, 2008 12:23 AM (GMT)
Buy 'em. 1$ = 100 Wii points. They sell in 1000's and 2000's, I believe.

I wish you could get Wii points by playing Wii too... Lol.

Kaiser - May 30, 2008 12:25 AM (GMT)
I currently have Paper Mario, Super Mario World, Super Mario 3, Donkey Kong Country, and Breath of Fire II. I'm trying to get Donkey Kong Coutry 2, but don't have the points for it. I love the Donkey Kong Country games.... except for the third one, which really sucked.
