Title: Sledding

Cyndaquil201 - December 11, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
Where I am, there is enough snow on the ground for sledding (well, it's mostly ice, but whatever). As my poor knees know, lots of things happen when sledding. Does anyone have any stories about something that happened when sledding?

Once my friends and I all had our sleds (well, I borrowed someone's sled) and were sledding down a big hill in the woods.. It had two parts. The top part was really steep. The bottom part was really really steep. The middle was flat, and not everyone made it from the top part to the bottom part without stopping. I went down the top part, with my feet digging into the ice and sending little shards everywhere, then tried to go down the bottom, but ended up digging a long trench in the snow with my behind and stopping in the middle. So I decided to go down the top part, then stop in the middle. I did this a few times.

So then one of my friends (lets call him Cacti, because that would be a pretty cool name) decided to make a train of sleds. One of my other friends (lets call him Lake Superior) was in the front, Cacti was behind him, I was behind Cacti, and two other people were behind me (their names shall be Spontaneous and Bobtail).

When we started off, we were doing fine. Then when we neared the middle part, Cacti and Lake Superior started going off into the woods. I freaked out and tried to stop. I'm not completely sure what happened, but Cacti and Superior ended up in the woods, Spontaneous and Bobtail ended up crashing into a stone wall at the side of the middle part with my sled behind them, and I was sitting on the ice in the middle of it all.

After this happened, one of my friends (her name shall be Apricot) was sledding with Cacti, and they went down the top part no problem, crossed the middle section, and headed down the bottom. Then, when they reached the bottom, the hit a fallen branch and fell off and broke the branch in two. So they moved it out of they way so other people could slide down without hitting it. Also, before this Superior slid down and hit something and his sled tipped forward and he went flying. Maybe he hit the branch, although I suspect the strange bump that a lot of people wiped out on.

My other friend (his name will be Spherical) was sledding with us, but there aren't any good sledding stories with him in it.

Anyone else have any stories?

xDD Nice, the train of sleds sounds interesting.

Our sled hill is kind of in two parts; a steep part and a steeper part. I go down the steep part, not the steeper part, usually. xD

Once, I was sledding with a friend, and I went down all the way to the bottom, but at the bottom I hit a bump (or maybe the ditch at the bottom of the hill, that could have done it too) and tumbled out. I hit my knee really hard on something, like the ground, perhaps, and my dad had to drag me in a sled back home because it hurt too much to walk. xD I didn't go to school the next day because of it, and on the day after that I must have been limping, because I remember one of my friends asking me why I was. xD

So. That's my story. =)

Stories about sledding... let's see... nope. none. zip. zero. *continues saying other words for zero*
There's NEVER enough snow for sledding here, there usually sin't any snow at all. You guys are all lucky. =P

Heh, ironic. Your name is IceMaster.

Yeah, not enough snow to do anything here, either. :(... at least when we get it, the school panics. You have an aptitude for making up names on the spot, Cyndaquil.

lol Once when I was in third grade, I went over to my friend's house to go sledding. She only had one sled so we had to take turns. After we went down the big hill in her backyard a few times, she suggested that we both try to sled down at the same time. So, we crammed onto the little sled, and tried to go down the hill.

We were too heavy to move. So, my friend got off and tried to push the sled ahead a little bit. She never got to push the sled, for when she got off, I went down the hill. The sled hit a big rock at the bottom and I flipped over, hitting my butt on the rock. I couldn't move, so my friend had to run back to her house and get her mom. When they came back, they pulled me back to the house on the sled. I walked with a limp for a few weeks, and I was never able to run as fast as I used to.

Another time, my two cousins and I were sledding down the road, which was a giant hill. I sledded down to the bottom and was about to walk back up when I saw my feet were tangled in the string thinger that you can use to pull the sled. I began to crawl up the middle of the road when a plow truck came down the road. I couldn't move quick enough to get out of the way, so my cousin raced down the hill and pulled me away. We walked back up once the plow truck was gone and kept on sledding. XD

Those are my two boring tales.

Haha xD I almost never sled these days, but when i do i end up having a lot of fun.

The last time i went sledding was last year at my friend's house. It was hilarious because i was constantly crashing into trees, and one time i crashed into a pile of firewood xD; lol

And a few years back we went sledding at another school nearby that had the best hill ever. It was so much fun until my brother crashed into something and then we had to go home.

omg you're right. Never noticed that! =O XD
Well, my name is IceMasterX becuz I liked Ice-Type Pokemon, the X sounded kool, and then it just stuck- and I still like that name. My other username that I like includes ice too, and that's HailZtorm. Maybe I just want icy usernames becuz sometimes I wish we had a lot here. XD

Ohh yes, I love sledding. :3 I've done it countless times, seeing as the new england weather we get around here is about as perfect as you can get for sledding. It just snowed 10 inches, so I oughta go sledding again sometime soon.

Unfortunately, I'm now too big for most sleds. :/ Disadvantage. Oh well.

Hm, my best sledding memory? Well... I do remember one time in Vermont, at new years, when we went to the ski resort to see fireworks. People had plastic trays and little toboggan things and were sliding down the hill. Our group had brought one or two ourselves, so we grabbed 'em and squeezed ourselves into an awkward crouching position and zoomed down. Chaos ensued. I'm pretty sure the sled spun around backwards and I crashed into someone. Regardless, it was very fun. :D

Ah. Yes.
It does snow around here rather a lot. C: In winter, I mean. Infact, that's an understatement. It snows..bucketfuls at a time.
I love sledding. Or sledging. If sledging is a word. We have a huge hill near here that always piles up with snow. And we sled/slide/sledge down that. For some strange reason, the sledge/sled always flys off the hill about halfway down before coming to the end. My brother calls the slegde/sled 'Santa's Reindeer', the way that it flys off like that.

There was this one time, I went sledding with my neighbor [let's call her Moo] and we were sledding on this big hill on the side of her yard [like you could sled on a flat surface] and the hill leads to the house on the other road, and they had some patio chairs out, and it's a pretty steep hill, so I went down it and I knocked over their chairs and the people kind of got mad at us... XD

IceMasterX - December 16, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
Er... why did you name her Moo if you never said her name in the story? XD

I went sledding yesterday with a friend of mine. =D We sort of went down at the same time, but I dragged my hands in the snow more, so she went down first. At first she would go straight, then she would turn really widely and roll over or stop. xD And I found that when I started to turn, I could just dig my hands in the snow, and I could correct the turn and go really far. =D But after a while I stopped, because I didn't have enough energy to go that far to get back up the hill. xDD;;

My brother and his friend went sledding the other day, and his friend ended up breaking his collar bone. =O Not fun. Poor guy. =(
