Description: ..Cat problems..

Ok, to start, I like cats very much. A lot of very much. ..Wait, that didn't make sense..

Anyway, I wanted a kitten, in fact this stray one that lives near my friend house. She is a very adorable and cute kitty who purrs when I stroke her.

But the only thing is, I'm allergic to cats. Actually, to all furred mammals. But that isn't the part I'm worried about. It's the fact that my mom is allergic to cats too.

So I really want a cat, my dad wants a cat, my brother wants a cat -but his opinion doesn't count cause he's six-, and my mom doesn't want a cat.

So I've been trying to convince her that her allergies will slowly start to go away, because I know many people who will testify to that, but she isn't listening anymore. Her allergies aren't even as bad as mine..

So here I am in this dilema(sp?). My mom isn't listening to my arguments, and all the while Ivykit (hehe, did I tell you I like the Warrior series?) starves on the streets with her siblings. Their mom got hit by a car.

But that's besides the point. What do you guys think?

I think you should leave out some food for the kitties first so they won't starve - if your parents let you, that is. You could buy some inexpensive cat food at the store to see if they like them.

I'm also very fond of cats, but I might be allergic to them, too. When I go to my friend's house 90% of the time I start sneezing and getting an irritated throat. However, I don't seem to be allergic to ALL cats. O_o; It's kinda weird, but I only sneeze around my friend's cats...

Anyways, before I start blabbing about myself, I think you should team up with the rest of your family and talk to your mom at the dinner table or something. If it's 3 to 1, she might give up... who knows?

Or you can keep pressing the matter every single day, until she gets so annoyed she might say yes? XD;

I would leave out some food, except I'm broke, and my mom wouldn't even pay for the 40cent cans...xP

Hm.. your allergies seem to depend on the kind of cats they are. Do you know what breed they are?

I have tried the family meeting thing, in fact for a while I had to convince my dad to not get the cat declawed, that was when my mom had seemed ok with the whole thing.

And I have pressing the matter every day, but I don't know if it's working, or if it's making things worse. I'll report more when I have a bit more.... Hazel out! ^^

maybe you could keep the cat outside and away from your mom? I'm allergic to cats too, and I can be around them shortly, but once I slept over at a friend's house who had cats, and it was torture!!!! XP

Both my parents are allergic to cats, and my sister might be. We keep them in a separate part of the house then our bedrooms are. They used to be outdoor cats until a coyote killed one.

Hm.. the problem with outside cats is that my mom cares too much about her garden, and doesn't want the cat pooping in it.... ><;

My mom has this awesome garden filled with expensive plants, and there's about a gazillion cats that pass by it, but none of them poop in it... XD Groundhogs torture it, but we haven't had any problems with cats at all... so yeah. I know dog poop is bad for plants, but I'm not sure if the same thing applies to cat's... who knows, maybe it's good for the soil or something... XD
