Description: um i have an invastionfree forum but

LucarioFan654 - November 6, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
Ok tell me how to code a forum just like this one!

Zephyr - November 6, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
How to code, you say? Well, judging from your topic's subheading, you already have one. No coding experience is required, really, unless you want to attach special add-ons or something. As for now, I don't understand your question. o3o Could you rephrase it?

Kronakitty - November 6, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
If you're talking about the appearance of the forum, well, the first thing is: you can't copy another forum's skin. It's considered stealing. So you can't make a forum exactly like this one.

However, if you want to make your own skin, you'll have to draw out graphics and edit the CSS. If you don't know what that is, LissaExplains.com has a lot of things you can learn. ^^

Shadow - November 6, 2007 09:55 PM (GMT)
There's also a wonderful place called the InvisionFree Skin Zone that has tons and tons of free skins available for you to use, if you don't want to make your own. I think they have some stuff for generating simple skins, too. ^^

Ok can you draw it with ms Paint? That's all i have. And that site might not have a word I would understand but I'll chack it out^_^

Eon Storm - November 7, 2007 04:49 AM (GMT)
you COULD use mspaint but I don't suggest it. What you should do is just grab a skin at IFSZ and when your board gets popular, maybe someone will make a skin for you.

Well, I can't stop you, but I tell you now, MSPaint doesn't have the capabilities other programs have.

I have no choice I have nothing else.

I agree with Eon Storm. You're free to use MS Paint, but Paint has far less options and tools than other programs.

There's a free program called GIMP that you can download; it's really neat. ^^ But, if you want to, you can use MS Paint; no one's stopping you.

Like I said Paint is the only thing I have. But I can use it better than anyone! The banner in my sig proves it.Yay Lucario!

Kronakitty - November 8, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
We understand Paint is the only thing you have. We're trying to help by giving suggestions.

If you want to use Paint, then go ahead. You can make skins with pretty much any program.

Are you familiar with the admin CP controls for Invisionfree? You should definitely do that first.

To edit the skin you go to the styles section. There's a good guide here: http://uk.geocities.com/iftuts

Not really!

Well, none of us were familiar with it when we first began, whether we started by admining a friend's forum or just started our own. Kronakitty's right, though; it would be a good idea to get used to the admin functions before you worry about the skin. But, if you want to start with a skin, then you can use the resources we gave you in this thread. ^^

Well mabye I could be admin for this forum so I can learn it.

Shadow - November 12, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
That's a good idea, but you probably wouldn't be able to here. =/ There's already two admins, and Kronakitty and Zephyr aren't looking for more. Perhaps you could create your own forums temporarily, and learn how to use the admin controls from there? It would be easier to do it on your own, too, because then you can do anything you want to and no one would mind. ^^

Well you could still ask, right?I think it would be fun and I'd learn alot from two experts.

I don't know about that, but I'll start a new forum and you can admin it if you like.

Kronakitty - November 12, 2007 01:15 PM (GMT)
Sorry, but I'm afraid Zephyr and I can't accept a fresh member as admin rather for testing purposes or not. There is also really nothing you can "learn" from us. There is no way to get used to the admin controls unless you do it yourself, and like Shadow said, you should do it at your own forum so you'll have more freedom to explore the different parts as you'd like.

No guide can help you get used to something. None of us knew how to use anything when we were just beginning to have forums. I think you're hesitating too much in taking your first step into forum-managing. ^^;
