Title: member prune?

IceMasterX - September 12, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
I say, since EV has lotz of members that don't even come on, that you do a member prune. Maybe anybody who hasn't visited the forums in a month or more... =/
I recommend doing it manually (if you do it), as you know about the crisis at VNBlab, KK. xD

Yes, I could see that being useful. You only have to look at all the members who have made three posts and then left, or even at the many people who haven't even posted yet but haven't visited the site in months. A good idea, but I agree, it should be done manually.

IceMasterX - September 12, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
Oh you dunno about the member prune on VNB... it was an automated one, and it ended up deleting all the members that were not admins, moderators, or honoraries (1500 posts). Luckily, I had just gotten 1500 posts two days before!
and IMO, it should delete all members who haven't visited the forums in a month or more.

Axphear - September 13, 2007 10:54 PM (GMT)
I don't think so...

Maybie instead you should be given a notice in your inbox saying you can't post for now. But if they return active they would PM back saying they're active again.

IceMasterX - September 13, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
wouldn't that be sort of... pointless? We dun need to know which members are active, we need to delete the members that we know AREN'T, IMO. I'll say it again, members that haven't been here in a month should be considered inactive. Nao whar are kk and zeph?

Tensheon - September 14, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
Hiding...O.o

Oh gosh, I'm glad I came back before you were thinking of pruning...^^;; I haven't posted in a whiiiiile... But good idea, now that i'm back...^^ *shot*

IceMasterX - September 14, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
You definitely weren't away for a month, Tensheon, and if they did it manually, they would know that you were on a trip or something and wouldn't delete you. Nao whar are teh admins! ><

Zephyr - September 15, 2007 02:38 PM (GMT)
I'm here. However, I have to say that I'm against a member prune. What if someone suddenly decided to come back, only to find that their account had been deleted? Besides, members don't take up that much space or anything. If anything, they're bragging rights. :P

IceMasterX - September 15, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
well, it's just... we'll wait for KK I guess... I think we should do it.I think all of the members who have joined should be active... joining our ideas together, perhaps prune members that have 0 posts and have not come on in the past month. It would only, let's see... 50 members? xD

EDIT: Actually, it would delete 81 members... about.... well, that's how many people have 0 posts. I counted. xD

Tensheon - September 16, 2007 02:58 PM (GMT)
Are you serious? =O I don't see the point of joining if you don't post...-_-;

IceMasterX - September 16, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
I know! Well, I guess you can join it just to... join it... and then just... forget about it... but 81?! That's crazy!!!

Kronakitty - September 16, 2007 04:50 PM (GMT)
I was about to do it at a time, but then I realized if it was based on post count it would delete some of the new members who've just joined. D:

I guess I could do it manually. I agree with Zephyr in a way, but I also think it's sort of pointless having all of them just sitting there. v-v; Hmmz I'll think about it. XD

Anniku - September 17, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
I think (but then again, no one cares. =P) that you should do the prune for people that have around 4- posts and haven't been here in a month, or longer. And I think you should do it manually, to avoid any possible mistakes.

I agree with Zephyr, but... I like clean forums, because I'm picky. But, like Krona said, members just sorta sit there. Heh, I've joined and never posted (or posted a small amount) then left forums before... Only because I join too many. -o-'

If I was an admin, I dunno what to do. I'd probably just deleted them manually from the start. -o-

IceMasterX - September 18, 2007 02:05 AM (GMT)
Kool! ^^
Thx

Shadow - September 21, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
Hmm. The matter might have already been decided, but if I can still add my opinion... maybe just members that haven't posted at all and haven't been on for a few months. That'll still get rid of a bunch, and chances are they weren't planning on coming back, anyway. If you do decide on doing a prune. Do it manually, though. xD

Same as above...

Pruning is immoral and pretty lame, really. Why fix what's not broken? If you are worried about empty accounts looking bad, well, then pruning isn't the way to go--I'm sure you all know that deleting members does not offset the member count, it just keeps on goin'. And you all know that every message board except possibly those three member, private IFs have inative members, any with zero posts. That's just part of it...

IceMasterX - September 21, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
erm... Shadow, I definitely agree with you. ^^
And AM, there is a way to recount the member #'s in the... idk. But the admins on VN did.

GlaceonTrainer - September 22, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
I am SO glad the answer was no...or I would've been gone..oh Hai.

IceMasterX - September 23, 2007 02:48 AM (GMT)
You weren't gone for a whole month even... you would ahve been perfectly safe- and if they did it manually, they'd know you were just on... whereever you were cuz I think you posted it in the... erm... leaving thread or w/e it's called.

Tensheon - September 26, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
xD HIIIIIIIIIII GlaceonTrainer!!! Lawl *shot* I'm confuzzled right now...>_<

GlaceonTrainer - September 27, 2007 09:43 PM (GMT)

Tensheon - September 29, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
