Title: Musical Instruments?
Shadow - May 13, 2007 09:54 PM (GMT)
Who here plays a musical instrument? If so, what do you play, and for how long?
I play the clarinet in the school band. It's been about three years that I have played. I'm in both the middle school and high school band this year, and next year I'll just be in the high school band.
I have a rental flute that I intended to learn, but it's just been sitting there, and I suppose the flute really isn't my thing. I would feel bad about returning it, since it's like I'm giving up, but still, if I'm not going to play it...
Now, even though there should be clarinet parts in jazz band, most of the time there's not, so I was planning on playing the alto sax in jazz band next year. The only thing is, I'm pretty sure my parents would be a little "ehhh" about it, because of the flute thing. But we'll see what happens.

I played the trumbone in 5th grade. But the music teacher is hated by everyone and makes even the toughest kids cry. I couldn't hold the trumbone up right and she was always yelling so I quit xD
I played the trumbone for 3 days xD
Everyone was quitting and now that same teacher followed me into high school. LOL so I joined chorus instead, but my dad teaches me how to play the drums, he has a whole technical room filled with drums and equipment in the basement.

I play flute. We have an intense band teacher that thinks we're talking when we're not, and spends more time lecturing us than actually letting us play, but I stick to it. I really like playing and listening to myself play, so it's worth even the hardships of band class,

I play the flute and I also own a piccolo. ^.^ I played flute from 5th grade all the way to my senior year. Of course, now the poor thing doesn't get the attention it deserves (I've been out of high school for almost three years now).

I play the piano mainly, and I've had quite a few piano recitals. ^^
But I also learned how to play the recorder and guitar in music class... but er... I don't think those count much. XDD I mean, anyone could play a recorder. *shot*

I don't play any interesting instruments like you. . .I play the piano! I really enjoy it, and people say that I have a big talent for it. And I think I do, and it used to really show, but now, I don't enjoy playing it as much as I used to. I'm not sure why, but it might be because I'm starting to actually have to work hard to be able to play a good song. I'm starting to get frustrated, 'cause I'm not used to having to try so hard to play a song. I'm gonna try to start liking it again though. . .
Edit: This was my post # 300 . ^^

I play the clarinet. I have been for about two years, I think.

I play the piano, and I haven't learned any other instrument. I've been playing for seven years.

I play... Guitar, I've been playing since the beggining of Summer, and I'm starting a band named Jetstream with my best friend. We tried writing a song called 'Class Clown', but we realized it was too repetitive so we stopped. I haven't told my friend yet, but I'm working on another song, 'Say That You Want To'.

Hey Empoleon_Master, please try not to bump topics that are a month old. It's okay with this thread, since discussion can still continue, but please check when the last post was in the future. ^^
Ahaha, I still haven't gotten to learning the alto sax. Someday, when jazz band starts.

Let's see. I've played the piano for eight years, since I was five, and my older brother and sister were playing it as well for as long as I can remember, though they quit when they got older. I'm not as good as I should be, but I'll be through with lessons next year, going into really hard stuff.
My piano teacher is a bit weird to some people. We don't have recitals, but workshops, in which we pick a song and play it for the other students. Everyone gets a turn, and we all can play, oh, one to three songs each, then we play a game like jeopardy involving music theory questions, then get snacks. Really yummy snacks. Parents aren't allowed at workshops, even. My teacher is really relaxed, much like my first one, and not at all like my second. I've had three teachers, one stopped when she had her son, and she was fun, giving out prizes, and the second was rather mean, as I recall. Never liked her.
And I've played the flute in band for two years. But I never practice and suck at it.

That sounds fun Noodles. For my piano, we have two "festivals" every year in which we play for two judges and get a score from 1-5. I've gotten 5 every time except for one last year...
And then we have a recidal every year where we play twos songs for lotza people in the audience.

The festivals sound fun, too, IMX. Our workshops are at the end of every session, so we don't have much time to prepare, really. I used to have to do recitals in front of my entire church. They weren't fun in the least, but now I don't have too much trouble playing in front of lots of people, so they might have helped there. I was pretty little then, though. Ah, frilly dresses! The horror! *shudders*

I love doing stuff in front of people. Playing piano is a way I can do that. I love acting too, and I've been in many plays. ^^
