Riku was tired of the long day's work. He had school that day, but that wasn't all he was tired from. He had been training with Nightmare for a while, making sure it can dodge certain attacks. But, he knew that not all attacks could be doadged.

You see, what he did was attack NIghtmare (not harmfully) with a wooden sword while Nightmare would dodge. Eevee got itred soon, so he picked him up, and went inside of his house to rest. What if Nightmare isn't quick enough to dodge these attacks!he thought.Then he can really get hurt!

So, after a hile, Riku had woken up Nightmare up to try some physical attacks now. Besides, he knew what attacks an Eevee knows.

"Tackle into that Bush, Nightmare!"

As Nightmare quickly responded with an "Eev!", it dashed into the bush, hitting something...

A small Pokemon with a large, round tail darted out of the bushes. It bounced back onto its tail, chirping in annoyance. "Seeen! Tret!" it called, glaring at Nightmare. Sentret stood outside the bush, resting on its black and brown striped tail.

Riku was frightned, and excited. It was going to be his first battle.

"Are you ready, Nightmare?" he asked.

Nightmare nodded and exclaimed "Eev!"

Sentret's eyes opened wider in fear as it realized the Eevee was going to attack. It quickly curled into a ball, using Defense Curl.

Sentret: Level 4, 19 HP

Defense Curl: +2 defense (next attack does -2 damage)

"Let's do this Nightmare! Use Tail Whip! Then, follow up with Tackle!"

Nightmare quickly ran toward Sentret and Used a quick Tail Whip. Then backed up for power and charged into Sentret with a Tackle.

Nightmare's Tail Whip caused Sentret to uncurl from its defensive pose. Just as the Scout Pokemon was squeaking in protest, Nightmare barreled into Sentret, dragging both Pokemon to the ground.

Sentret picked itself up. Unsheathing the claws on one paw, it darted at Nightmare and slashed at him with its claws.

Scratch: 4 HP, 100 Accuracy
Tackle: 4 HP, 100 Accuracy

Nightmare: 16/20 HP
Sentret: 15/19 HP

"Ugh..., are you ok?"

Nightmare nodded.

"Ok!. Let's use another quick Tackle!"

Nightmare rushed towards the Sentret.

Nightmare attacked Sentret again, and Sentret cried out in pain. It retailiated in the same way that the Eevee attacked, and launched itself at Nightmare in a Tackle attack.

Nightmare: 12/20 HP
Sentret: 11/19 HP

"We're pretty even..." cried out Riku. "Use Tail Whip!"

Eevee lashed its tail at Sentret, and Sentret flinched. It stood uncertainly near the bush, looking more vulnerable than before.

"Nightmare, use a quick Tackle! and try dodging its next attck!"

Riku was unsure if Nightmare could dodge it. But he didn't give up.

"Give it all you got!"

Nightmare tackled Sentret, sending it flying. Sentret picked itself up and glared at Nightmare. It launched itself at Nightmare, who stood there, frozen. However, Riku's confidence in his Pokemon jolted Nightmare into action. He jumped out of the way, rather ungracefully, and tripped, landing in a heap. But the Sentret flew past him, leaving Nightmare unharmed.

Nightmare: 12/20 HP
Sentret: 6/19 HP

Riku jumped in excitement.

"Great job! Try to get a better dodge, though. Just do your best!"

But then he noticed that if he was over-confident (or cocky), he could lose.

"Wait for the next attack, dodge it, and while its defense is down, use Tackle!"

Nightmare felt confident as well, but no too confident. He had been training for a while, so he was ready. He knew ,though, that if he was cocky, he could faint.

Nightmare nodded sharply to his trainer, then stood firmly on the ground. Sentret, now enraged, flew at Nightmare, aiming to knock the Eevee off his feet. But Nightmare dodged nimbly to one side, kicking up dust as he jumped. Sentret skidded to a halt. Picking its head up, it glared at Nightmare. "Tret!" it cried, exhausted and angry. Nightmare tackled Sentret with a force that sent them both spiraling into a heap.

Nightmare: 12/20 HP
Sentret: 2/19 HP

"Sentret's got some good defenses..." he murmered to his self.
"Tackle one more time with all you've got!" he yelled.

Nightmare nodded, gathering himself for a final Tackle attack. "Ee!" he cried, launching himself at Sentret. "Vee!"

Sentret flew back as Eevee collided with it, and lay still on the ground. Struggling to get up, it staggered back to the bush, then set off in a limping run, trying to put as much distance between itself and that Eevee as possible.

Nightmare: 12/20 HP
Sentret: 0/19 HP

Nightmare has gained 20 EXP! It needs a total of 30 to advance to level 6.

Nightmare lied down, extremely tired of his great battle.

I rushed toward him, "You did it. Great job. I am very proud of you, Nightmare." I told him. "Now, it's time for rest."

I walked inside of the lab, holding little Nightmare in my arms. "You were great. Now get some rest."

(Yes, that's fine.)

Nightmare shifted in your arms, making himself comfortable. His eyes drooped, and soon he was asleep.

A lady at the front desk saw you and your Pokemon enter, and she approached you with worry in her eyes. "Is your Pokemon alright?" she asked, glancing at the Eevee.

"Yeah, he's fine." I replied. "He just needs a little resting before we start on our journey. But, he is a little tired from the great battle he had. I was ust wondering if you could heal him, if that's ok with you." I asked. "I would really appreciate, and so would Nightmare."

The nurse smiled. "Certainly. That's why nearly all trainers come here, isn't it?" She stretched out her arms, gently taking the sleeping Eevee from you. She then shuffled into a back room. All was quiet for a minute or so before she returned.

"Out-of-Pokeball healing is a little more chellanging, so next time in order to take less time it would be much preferred if you stored your Pokemon." She smiled sweetly at you. "Oh, don't worry. It's not your fault. Your Eevee will be ready in a few minutes. In the meantime, why don't you sit down and read a magazine or talk with one of your fellow trainers? I'm sure they'll have interesting things to say." She smiled again in her I-live-to-help kind of way and walked into the back room again.

"Thank you" I yelled before she went inside of the back room.

I sat down in one of the soft chairs and picked up a magazine that was laying on the ground.

It said something about a trainer that was going to be the champion of the Elite Four. I started reading, noticing that it was a 14-year old kid from White Feather town...

"He's ready!" yelled the lady at the front desk. I jumped out of the chair and rushed toward her, holding my arms out.

The nurse put Nightmare into my arms.

"Eevee!" Nightmare exclaimed. He looked much healthier.

I reached toward my belt and got my Pokeball and returned Nightmare.

"Thank you," I told her again. "Next time, I'll remember to put him in a PokeBall. Sorry about that..." I said, holding my head up before I put it down.

"It's ok," she replied." It's just that it takes longer, that's all."

"Ok. Bye!"

"Bye!" she yelled before I opened the door and grinned as I walked out the front door.

After I stepped down the steps, I looked to the right and I noticed a few kids battling, and noticed a small maybe 10-year old that was battling with his Poochyena against a much more taller boy, around my size, that was probably around 13-years old, battling with his wingull.

I walked toward them, seeing the much smaller boy winning. But, I also see two other boys watching.

The two other boys were obviously on the older boy's side. "That kid's cheating!" one of them yelled, glaring at the smaller boy. The trainer with the Wingull smiled arrogantly at his friends, smirking at the younger boy.

"I am not!" the younger boy cried. His Poochyena barked at the other boys before tackling the Wingull. It was clear that the younger boy's Pokemon was winning without cheating in any way.

I yelled, "Hey! Exactly how is he cheating, huh?"

"Well-" the two boys in the background said nervously, "he... ugh..."

"Exactly. So, you shouldn't be saying those rude things, should you?"

"Stay out of this, twerp!" shouted the taller boy with the Wingull.

The younger boy flashed you a grateful smile. Turning back to the battle, he cried out to his Poochyena. "That's it, Poochyena! One more Tackle attack!" Poochyena bowled into the Wingull, bringing it down. The bird did not get back up.

"All right, Poochyena!" the boy cried, as his Poochyena rushed over and smothered his face in licks. The boy laughed, as the other boys taunted and jeered at him. The younger boy seemed not to notice, but you could tell he heard.

"Aren't you going to something about this?" asked the younger boy as the others left.

"What could I do? Nothing. That's what." he replied.

"Huh? What are you talking about? I was talking about you letting them taunt you. Why? Are you afraid?"

"Well..." he said, shifting his chin down towards his stomach. "I can't do anything... I'm only 10, and there about 15."

"Well, yo must be pretty good at battling if you just beat a 15 year-old!"

"Yeah. You're right. My name's Jake. I have been training for a while with my sister, Jenny. She's really good. I just... haven't... been better at anything than her. I just want to be good at something. That, is why I am ok at battling."

"Well, I have to go. So, maybe I'll see you around! Bye!" I said as I waved my arm.

"Maybe... Well, nice meeting you!"

Jake and his Poochyena watched Riku leave Silvershade Town, and the boy wondered if they would meet again. The two turned to leave, heading towards the Pokemon Center.

I look around, watching the leaves as they fly past, and notice that the Pokemart is open.

Maybe I could catch a Pokemon while I'm here? I asked myself, walking into the bright blue roof building.

"I would like...2 Pokeballs, 2 Potions, and a Fishing Rod please." I asked the store clerk.

"That will be exactly $500 PokeDollars please."

I sighed.

I hand the store clerk all of my money. I place the 2 potions and Fishing Rod inside my pack, and place the 2 Pokeballs onto my belt.

"Thank you," I said before walking out the door.

I now have:

As you step into the woods, you notice how much fresher the air is here. Wild Pokemon can be heard stirring among the trees and grasses. Suddenly, you hear a sound (a human, perhaps?) somewhere up ahead. You also hear the squealing of Pokemon...

I quickly dash toward the rustling of leaves.

I wonder what it is?

You approach a small clearing, and quickly hide in the trees as you realize what is happening. A middle-aged man with a gruff face and a hunter's suit is abusing a group of small forest Pokemon trembling on the ground. The hunter's Pokemon, a mean-looking Linoone, is growling and terrifying the other Pokemon.

I rush over to this mean-looking man.

"Hey! What are you doing? Why are you harming those Pokemon?"

The hunter turned around and glared at you, as did the Linoone. "Stay out of this, brat," he said. "These Pokemon ran away from my resort in these woods. They belong to me, yet apparently they don't know how to behave!"

Angrily, he kicked a Zigzagoon with his booted feet, and the Linoone sliced at a Shroomish.

"Quit!" I cried loudly. "That's not how you treat Pokemon!"

The hunter turned and glared at you. "And what would you know about it? What I do to my Pokemon is none of your business!" he snarled. One of the Zigzagoon bravely stepped away from the others and sank its small teeth into the hunter's leg. As the hunter roared with more anger than pain, he picked up the Pokemon by the scruff of its neck and flung it into the bushes, where it landed with a harsh thump. The other Pokemon growled.

"What the heck was that for? If you say because it bit you, it's because you don't know how to treat Pokemon! Pokemon should and will be treated the same exact amount as humans." I spoke up while rushing over to the injured Zigzagoon.

The Zigzagoon flinched back. It obviously did not like being near humans, not after what occured with the hunter. The other Pokemon began edging backward as well. Perhaps it'll help if another Pokemon tried to calm them?

"Hey! Get off them!" the hunter growled. "Don't touch my property!"

"Go, Nightmare!" I shout while tearing off the bright red Pokeball and tossing it into the air. "You don't treat them as friends! They're not you're property."

Nightmare leaped out and Tackled the Linoon. The hunter turned angrily and shouted, "If it's a battle you want, then so be it! Linoone, Scratch!"

Linoone charged forward at a brisk pace with its lean body and clawed at Nightmare.

Nightmare: 16/20 HP
Linoone: 16/20 HP

"Ok, now use a Tail Whip!" I told him.

Nightmare playfully wagged its tail, and the Linoone halted a bit. "Scratch!" the hunter cried.

Nightmare: 12/20 HP
Linoone: 16/20 HP (vDefense, next attack +2 damage)

"Now get ready for a Sand Attack!" the hunter ordered.
