Life Guard
Cold, depressing and ugly, were all words that described the day.
It was humid and rain was pouring down hard, some reporting it felt like hail.
The water droplets heavily poured down on a small town, a town where usually everybody was busy with something.
But not today.
Today there would be not one children playing in the fields…
Not one gardener tending to nature…
Not even one Pokemon to be caught.
This cold and depressing feeling…
It was known all to well to one innocent girl.
It seemed the rain poured down on her baize house harder than most.
She stared out her bedroom window…
Searching for that one true cause.
She held something, a ribbon it seemed, in her bare hands.
It was labeled 14th.
14 was a number the sapphire haired girl grew to hate.
The girl slowly opened the window…
Feeling the cold drift over her body.
She looked down at the ribbon, tears forming in her eyes.
The girl tightened her eyes shut, trying to hold the tears back.
She angrily tossed the ribbon out onto the muddy grass.
The girl collapsed onto the floor.
The cold slowly seeping into her essence.
The rain dampened her body.
The girl held her bare legs, curled up against the bed.
Wearing only a pink mini skirt and black tangtop, she started to freeze.
She started to feel...
Lonely.
***************************“She has been up there for awhile” A petite woman noted.
“It’s that bad, huh?” A younger boy frowned.
The small woman sipped her cup of hot chocolate.
She had a small blue afro, a white long sleeve shirt and blue pants. Right now she was wearing an apron.
It was a proven fact that some like to cook when they are upset.
“Ash,” The woman put her cup of coffee down.
“Ever since she came in 14th place in the grand festival…” She couldn’t gather the right words.
“Seeing her like this makes me so upset.” The woman uncontrollably let her feelings pour out.
“Don’t worry, Ayako.” Ash put his bare arm on the woman’s shoulder.
“I’ll talk to her.” He reassured
Ayako looked down at the glove covered hand on her shoulder.
“Thank you.” she whispered
***************************“Hikari?” Ash popped his head into the room.
He felt the cold whisk about his face.
The depressed girl tucked her head into her shoulders, trying to ignore the familiar voice.
“Are you in here?” He carefully examined the dark room.
Ash noted a closed window above a blue bed.
Moving his eyes left a little, he saw an open window with a dark shadow huddled underneath it.
The trainer stepped into the room and shut the door behind him.
Nothing but the outside lights lit the room.
He walked over to his sad friend, noticing a damp puddle around her
“Hikari?” He asked concerned.
“Go away.” She murmured under her shoulders.
Ash wouldn’t abandon his friends that easily.
Before the boy could say anything, a gust of wind blew across his body, causing him to shiver.
“You must be freezing.” Ash walked over to the window, shutting it softly.
He looked at the depressing sight of his once enthusiastic friend.
“Mind if I sit?” The trainer sat down, his knees bended and his arms folded over them.
“Please talk to me.” Ash pleaded.
“I’m a loser, why do you want to talk me?” Her head remained tucked in her arms.
“Aw your not a loser.” He honestly stated.
“Did I ever tell you how many leagues I lost?” Ash looked up to the ceiling.
“I have lost my first three leagues…” He explained.
“It was only this league that I actually won.”
“You can’t expect to win ’em all.” He continued.
“So when you lose…” He searched for the right words to say.
“You have to pull yourself back up again and try even harder.” He finished.
Hikari slowly turned her head to Ash’s, her eyes meeting his.
The depressed coordinator stared into the boy’s dreamy auburn eyes. Feeling like she was drowning…
Drowning into a deep depression…
Drowning into sorrow…
Drowning into his caring eyes…
But even if she did drown, she knew Ash would be there to save her.
She felt better with this piece of mind.
“Save me, Ash…” She whispered.
“Don’t worry” He wrapped his arm around her.
Hikari felt herself being slowly pulled in close to her warm friend.
“I’ll save you…”
