Title: How far are they going to go?

Well, there's 4 generations of Pokemon now, and it seems it's going to keep growing for a long time. Not to mention Satoshi Tajiri is super-rich even if it dies out. XD

So... how long do you think Pokemon is going to last? It's been quite a while since it first started, and do you think it'll still be around when we're all adults?

*CAUTION: VERY LONG POST

Good question. Pokemon has alot of aspects to its franchise, so it's hard to say how or when it will die out.

Having over 1000 Pokemon would be very hard for anyone to collect, not to mention it would take a very long time to program. The games with new pokemon can't last much longer.

The anime can't keep taking out good female co-stars and replacing them with a new generation girl. Ash also can't keep coming in 4th place in the leauges any longer.

And toys only last as long as the other two do.

The above doesn't mean Pokemon will die, there is always that possibility our kids might be involved with it.

There could be several spin-off games concerning Pokemon. I sence at least one or (I doubt it), but two more generations ahead. A pokemon MMORPG could also be a very good possibility. Lol. I could picture a virtual reality game where yur a trainer.

The anime could have several spin-off series to promote other pokemon games.

Who knows, our kids might be watching the journeys of the gang from Pokemon Crystal (Marina, Jimmy, Jackson, Silver).

But Pokemon will be around for awhile and around even when (and if) we grow out of it.

They cannot keep on having ash in the anime comming 4th. He needs to come first and settle down and have kids.
His kids should then become the new trainers, this would attract younger kids to the show. And then the main character should be a girl and a boy, twins. That would get girls and boys in it as well as twins.

Then they should have you being able to choose weither you want to be a contest pokemon trainer, not a battling one. This would get the more non-violent trainer in.
I am not saying that the games are violent, but some people do think this, and if you got the choice, it would get sales right up.

The pokemon right now will die out soon, probably, though I will still like it just the same. About the video game program in a post earlier, they'll figure out someway to do it. Soon, I think they'll do a Yugioh-YugiohGX thing where there's totally new characters, and a new storyline, and Pokemon will become all the more popular again. . .

All good theories. And about Ash... it is getting really cliche, him never getting 1st place anymore. It's always "gonna win!" then "defeated by some random, stronger guy who only is met during the league or whatever".

I can't see them making new Pokemon over and over again either, but it's not like the same fans are going to stand around forever. I mean, new kids are constantly getting introduced to Pokemon, and they're probably going to like it.

But it will be a problem with keeping the Pokemon market alive, and spin-offs will probably be the best way to do it. Nintendo can also start making different kinds of games, like Mysterious Dungeon, instead of the usual train-and-get-badges. They can also consider redoing GSC, or making a new game for the Wii.

As for the anime, they can't stick with Ash forever, but he's still only about 14 or maybe even 13, so he can't have kids unless they skip ahead. XD (I can't imagine seeing an old Ash.) New female co-stars will get dull sometime, though. v_v

I agree with that. Ash should settle down. His kids should be the trainers. Or at least the D/P hero or FR/LG girl.
One of the major reason why Pokemon is getting "unpopular" is because of the show itself. Ash going on an endless journey, and Team Rocket (I could never forget them and their stupid motto)
But the Pokemon game is good. The show needs work
