Instead of the bridge to get across the lake, you can sign up at the local PokeMart to go on a cruise ship. It will cost you 450 PD.

You will miss out on any trainers and/or events (if there are any) on the bridge, but you will also be able to meet trainers and different events (if any) on the cruise ship.

So really, it's up to you. ^-^
