Title: Satoshi's Sprites
Description: Updated regularly...
Satoshi - February 14, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
Hey, so my old computer crashed so I had to get a new one and all of my old sprites were erased, but I managed to find a few and I also made some new ones.
I thought you all should see them, I'm not sure if they are that good though.

I'm not sure if the head-shots (Like Hikari's) is a sprite, but I put it up anyway.
If you want to use any PM me....

...
Wow...I love. This. Is. Fanatastic. They are totally great.
No, they really are good. Brilliant. Grade A+
I'm not sure about the Ash on the bike.
Kronakitty - February 14, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
Wow. I agree with TMaI. Those are really good. ^^ The large ones aren't referred to as "sprites", but they're still brilliant. =D I like the Hikari head one, and the smaller sprites. The kissing scene is sorta weird, and so is the Ash-on-a-bike, but otherwise, they're really, really nice.
Satoshi - February 14, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
Thanks, I dont think that kiss scene is my greatest piece, but I made it for a Pearlshipping club and I thought I would just post it up.
Ash on a bike was for a sprite comic that I never got around to making. He was supposivley stealing 10 yr old girl's bikes or something? I dunno.
Mind telling me what the big "sprites" are called, cause I have a few of those and not sure if they are allowed here.
Kronakitty - February 14, 2007 10:16 PM (GMT)
I'd call just call them...art. XD "Pixel art" might work too, since you can see the pixels clearly, but otherwise, I have no idea. o3o
Zephyr - February 14, 2007 10:18 PM (GMT)
The bigger forms of spriting are known as "pixel art." That's a general term that encompasses all forms of spriting, whether it be traditional Pokemon spriting (or spriting of any video game) or free-form art using just basic tools and being edited pixel-by-pixel. Yes, it's allowed.
The only problem with the kiss scene is that the outlines are much too thick, blurring the distinction by making them too distinct (if that makes sense?). You're very talented at this, although I'd really love to see you do something other than trainer sprites. You're good at this! ^^
Satoshi - February 14, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
I see what your saying.. The border should blend with the picture instead of bolding it out?
This is the last "Pixel Art" I am going to put up tonight and If I read your advice correctly, I think it looks good, but nothings perfect and this isn't either.
So here is pachirisu:

What do you think?
Kronakitty - February 14, 2007 10:55 PM (GMT)
I think it looks nice. ^_^ The lineart is a little shaky and it could use some more shading, but otherwise, it's very cute and nice. =3
Wyvern - February 14, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)
pachirisu is good. the hikari one is cute exept Ash shouldn't be kissing her, it should be me xD
anyway nice job!
Pointy - February 14, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
Ooh, I like these. They're pretty :D <3 I especially like the trainer sprites. Theyr'e cute. I think the Pachirisu pic looks good as well. The lines are a bit shaky, but it's good.
Zephyr - February 14, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
Ah, that's not what I meant. What I meant is that the outline should be thinner so it's not as distracting. Kronakitty hit the nail on the nead here by saying that the outline's too shaky, and it is- straighten it out and reduce it to one pixel thick, or two if need be.
I see what you're doing now- you're taking pics from the Anime and sprite-ifying them. That's called a "pixel-over" and is simply another style of spriting. ^^
This little feller... I feel sorry for him, he has no shading. Or rather, he does but it looks so unrealistic it's rather sad. The shadows, in particular the one on the head, look very irregular. They should curve with the body.
Kronakitty - February 14, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
Ya, Zephyr basically covered everything. =3
I was a bit suspicious that it was all original art, too, but I've never done pixel-overs before, so I don't really know much. XDD
Shadow - February 15, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Ooh, cool sprites. ^^ The pixel overs look great, except for the things already mentioned, and the trainer sprites are much better than anything I could do. Nice job!
justanotherpokemonfan - February 15, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
Other than what zephyr said, those are really good.
Satoshi - February 15, 2007 10:24 PM (GMT)
Taking what Zephyr said, I think this pixel-over is better. (I will update the thread with sprites later)

I had alot of trouble spriting the eye, though..
What do you think?
Kronakitty - February 15, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
I think it's pretty good, although May's mouth could be a little darker with a darker shade of skin color.
Zephyr - February 16, 2007 02:25 AM (GMT)
That's great! It's likely your best yet. ^^ Kronakitty was right about the mouth, though, but otherwise this is great. You've made the outlines thicker, I see. That's great- the only thing I can think to crit is the shading on the arm. The hilight is applied sparingly when it should be larger.
Satoshi - February 16, 2007 04:36 AM (GMT)
I fixed it up abit
New:

Old:

Now time for bed
Wolf Link - February 16, 2007 08:19 AM (GMT)
Wow...I wish I was May now...it's really good! ^^
Zephyr - February 16, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
The hilight on her face is still the same color. ^^; Now that I look at it, her elbow is also waaay too pointy. You have her skin a bit too dark here, now. Lighten up the hilights, but not as bright as the first one, and lighten the shadows. Fix the shading and shape of the elbow. If you do all that, it'll be great. ^^
